Urban Legends

I have always been under the impression that Ken Griffey Jr. is generally credited with having begun the fad of wearing a baseball cap backwards. If indeed my recollection is correct, then I have some news for Mr. Griffey: you may have popularized the fad, but the fellow pictured below and to the right started it all and has been appearing in public wearing his baseball cap backwards (and his Eisenhower jacket frontwards) since the mid-1970's when I picked him up during a long journey through Mexico.

The poor guy looks a trifle dusty...I never thought you were the type to have skeletons in your closet.

I actually dusted Mapache off for this presentation. Is it that obvious? (He's named for the renegade general in Peckinpah's "The Wild Bunch".)

Mapache has always had a prominent place in our dinning room (seriously, a sort of memento mori), but when we began to show the house to prospective buyers our real estate agent suggested he might not make such a good impression. I argued but lost and with that had to also hide the skeleton mariachi band I own, all six figures (about half his size - Mapache goes 42" in his, er, stockingless feet).
